studio berk

studio berk was founded in 2019 by Dutch interior designer Jeannine van Erk and German product designer Veronika Becker. The design studio is based in Berlin.

Jeannine trained as a carpenter before enrolling at Rietvelt Academy’s Interior Design program. She worked various carpentry jobs, including scenic construction and exhibit installation for the Venice Biennale. In 2011 she began designing and evolving her signature bel+bo lamps. These were followed by iCarpet, a concept design that cleverly combines traditional craftsmanship and innovative technology.

Veronika studied design at the Berlin University of the Arts. A major influence on her development as a designer was the experimental project “DIM– Die imaginäre Manufaktur” (the imaginary manufacture). Understanding and transforming production processes clearly and strongly rooted in craftsmanship made a lasting impression on her. Her projects as a freelance designer include co-founding the concept store “kwikshop“, various interior designs, as well as bag design and manufacturing.

As studio berk, the designer duo complement each other perfectly. They develop and produce everyday products with an innovative and meaningful language of form, sparked by influences from art and design.

Their surprising arrangements of a wide range of shapes, colors and materials are the result of skillful craftsmanship and inspiration. Handmade as unique pieces or small series, their products seduce with minimalist design and a love for details.

Sustainability, both in the choice of materials and the production modes, is a priority for studio berk. Fair, preferably environmentally friendly production and slow design are prerequisites of their process.

studio berk products are available for purchase in selected stores as well as in their online store.

Their studio and showroom is located at Schwedter Straße 9a, 10119 Berlin, Germany.
